TUSHEMERIRWE ALICE HONEST

Program Director/Board Secretary (social worker)

Tushemerirwe A. Honest is a co-founder, Ugandan Female married and blessed with three children.  Community work is my calling and social work is my passion. Her social pursuits traveling and reading as her hobbies with professional values to Excellency, Accountability, Integrity, Trust, and Team building.

Honest is envisioned to positively make a difference in the community by giving Hope and driven by a belief that “Every life matters.”

Serving HICDEF in my capacity is something I treasure and have done diligently since HICDEF started. We have implemented the establishment of a community school, Health programs like HIV/AIDS awareness, Sexual Reproductive programs, Family Planning, water, and sanitation, WASH, rolling out Income generating projects, Supporting the OVCs’ Education with scholastic materials and tuition, community mobilization, and sensitization, training Village Health Teams and para – social workers, Covid-19 Food Relief mobilization distribution and Awareness creation for COVID 19 Standard Operation Procedures SOPs, Family Resilience, and Positive parenting and Street Business School Trainings.

She holds a graduate degree in social science from Makerere University, a post-graduate Diploma in Public Administration and Management from Uganda Management Institute, and a Certificate in Administrative Law from Makerere University. She has further received certifications in professional counseling by Finemind and Utopia Foundation, lead coaching by Street Business School, Project Monitoring and Evaluation and Grant writing by FCDE, and Data collection and analysis by UBOS Uganda Biaural of Statistics.

Honest has served as a Finance officer and sponsor-donor relations officer in charge of adolescent curriculum respectively with Compassion International assisted projects, Community development Officer with Bwambara Sub-County, and Senior community development officer with Bikurungu, Kebisoni, and Buyanya town councils respectively. This vast experience working with children from rural communities introduced me to the bigger picture of her dedicated service at HICDEF. Community development and empowerment is Her passion and social work is Her profession and calling.

Honest brings wide expertise in rural and urban community development, especially for children, youth, and women empowerment, having worked with Compassion International and Rukungiri district local government as a senior Community development officer. Her commitment to HICDEF is coupled with her zeal to go an extra mile in serving the community especially OVC, elderly, and special needs people like the people leaving Disability who have been given hope to live through psychosocial support and other innovative community-led interventions.

She has been instrumental in our major projects like the Kanyankwanzi community water access project, Family Resilience project, COVID 19 Food and Emergency relief project, End the Domestic violence projects, and Household livelihood project which is evident in HICDEFs positive change and impact on the community.

BESIGYE BRIAN

Program Coordinator (Educationist)

Brian is a Ugandan Rotarian married man blessed with 3 children; Samuel, Esther, and Josh. He is a flexible hard-working fellow passionate about Community transformation and likes reading about nature and camping. He is a teacher by profession (Economics and Geography) from Makerere University Kampala, Uganda, and holds several academic qualifications like CCA (MUK), Diploma in Social work, PGD in Project Planning and Management from Uganda Management Institute (UMI).

Brian has served HICDEF as a Program Coordinator for the last 5 years implementing community projects in water and sanitation, rolling out several income-generating projects, educational support projects to our beneficiaries, community mobilization, and sensitization, training VHTs and para-social workers, hosting HICDEF partners and report writing among others. He participated in numerous workshops with both National and International organizations identical Compassion International, USAID, FCDE, Rotary International, Enterprise Uganda (EU), and UBOS (Data collection), where he has amassed vast knowledge on data collection, analysis, and presentation, community transformation approaches, peer training, project implementation, and financial management among others.

Brian’s years of career experience spring over from serving as a Project Director with Compassion International, a classroom teacher, a head teacher, and a University Lecturer. He brings amassed a wealth of experience in dealing with humanity, project management, and implementation using different community development models (CDM) – aware of the diversity of our communities and their unique challenges and opportunities.

He is full-time at HICDEF and he is majorly entrusted with strengthening HICDEF partnerships that come on board to better serve our communities, team cohesion, resource mobilization like Grant writing, project implementation, and other life skills like decision making and stress management. He is result-oriented focusing on efficiency and effectiveness, Children are at the center of my life, and adding lasting value through sustainable development to diverse communities is my ultimate goal in life, and envisions creating a better World through synergy.

NAHABWE ESTHER

Programs Manager

Esther joins HICDEF with experience in community development and empowerment, she believes once an individual is empowered then the whole community is empowered hence development. She believes in serving beyond self-interest and also encouraging active participation of individuals, groups, and communities in creating long-lasting solutions that may affect well being of an individual.

She is interested in community service, touring upcountry and singing; her joining HICDEF will continue to impact individuals, groups and communities to live as whole to enhance development and well being.

TUMUHEIRWE RACHEAL

HICDEF Peer-to-Peer Trainer

Racheal joins HICDEF as a peer-to-peer trainer. She has wide expertise in Child Development having worked with Compassion International with a vision to realize children from poverty in Jesus’ name, she has a great zeal to share all the knowledge and resources she has acquired in the field as a child Development officer with anyone who has the same interest of seeing the desired changes as far as children and communities are transformed from poverty and vulnerability.

Racheal derives her passion to serve the needy and the highly vulnerable through her background, she grow up in a child-headed home, and suffered all kinds of emotional stress, she is a great testimony of a child that has tested poverty and by God’s grace was touched by several people to see her attain a Degree in Business Administration but passion called her to serve the less privileged just as she was, to give or restore hope to them that they are equally important, they can achieve whatever they need, and their dreams are valid.

She is committed to seeing that children are supported to attain their dream, they come back and join the team to change their communities.

KABAGAMBE HUMBLE

Community Program Volunteer

Kabagambe Humble is a HICDEF volunteer with more than 4 years of hands-on experience in community Projects & Portfolio Management in a multi-professional not-for-profit organization environment. Humble possesses a strong working knowledge of developing policies and plans for change. He has more than 4 years of working with socially marginalized and economically disadvantaged groups, especially women and children.

Volunteering as a Community Programmes officer at HICDEF, Humble provides strategic direction and development of the organization’s key programme themes in the Community Association namely Alternative Care (family-like care, youth care), Family Strengthening Programmes (FSP), Youth Development, Advocacy, Institutional Partnership Development, and Emergency Response programmes.

He believes once an individual is empowered then the whole community is empowered hence development. He believes in serving beyond self-interest and also encouraging the active participation of individuals, groups, and communities.  

NOTE: HICDEF team is further comprised of Support Staff, village and Parish based Volunteers,  trained Village Health Teams (VHTs), and Para-social Workers.
